This site contains images of paintings and drawings that were made during the course of the life of Tim Smith.
The landscape images are both observed and imagined. The ocean is used as a platform to express human emotion and experience.
Light and it's effect on the other elements is a primary subject in the landscape work.
Still-Life painting is undertaken with as little interruption to the subject as possible. Objects are interpreted as they are found, without embellishment or arrangement. In this way the artist presents the objects within the context of their isolation from function: as pure aesthetics. The motif is decay, or renewal, one and the same.
Painting is the marriage between conscious observation and an engaged imagination.
